Now, they felt it was fine because it was, in their own way, worshipping God. But God says in the Ten Commandments, "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in Heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below..." (Exodus 20:4-6). You can apply this in modern day life, with modern day things. As you'll see in part 2.

Part 2-

Moses asks God to forgive Israel-

For just a second, close your eyes and think about this (of course, you might want to read on first!)

Think about what it'd be like if you were Moses- You have done lot's of work, leading the people on the Exodus out of Egypt to the promised land, and what do the Israelites do? THEY REBEL! (A lot!) How hard do you think that would be, constantly being put through that, and they don't even care! But Moses was kind to the Israelites, and he asked God to forgive them.

Modern day idols-

Do you ever watch TV? Do you ever get on the internet? (Of course you do if your reading this, so don't answer no) Do you ever put up a Christmas tree? These are all idols that many people now days think of just regular everyday objects- how much time do you read the Bible? Next time you do anything that takes away God, remember how angry God was with the Israelites with the Golden Calf. Maybe you'll even decide to spend time with God instead! Without this chapter we Christians wouldn't truly know that God created the Heavens and the Earth. Tuesday you learned that we were made from dust. And God made his first rule, do not eat from the tree of knowledge. That leads to Wednesday where you learned about the first sin. There were many consequences for their sin, the serpent would have to craw on it's belly, and others for the man and woman. On Thursday you learned about Cain's sin. You also learned that Adam and Eve had a third son, Seth. (The Bible later tells that they had many other children also)

This first month is all about sins, and the consequences.
